How change control works
Quizproof only recommends product data you have approved. When something changes in your catalog that could change a recommendation, the product is taken out of results until you review the change on the Changes page. Nothing new enters results without your approval; changes that can only remove a product (archived, deleted, unpublished, out of stock) take effect at once.
What you see on Changes#
One review per kind of change: for example "Skin type: dry → oily" for every product retagged that way, "3 new products", "Source broken: Contains", or "2 products archived".
A severity: Critical (an allergy-style hard exclude is affected, a quiz now shows no match where it had results, a pinned product was removed, a source a live quiz reads broke, or products could not be verified for 24 hours), Warning (products are hidden until you review, new products wait, or a removal changes some recommendations), Info (no live quiz reads the change, or a removal changes no recommendation).
What shoppers see now ("12 products hidden from results until you review"), which quizzes are affected, and the answers whose recommendations change: before the change, now, and after you approve.
Approve or reject. If the product changes again while you are looking, Quizproof says so and shows the new version instead of approving the old one.
How quickly changes are caught (measured)#
Shopify sends a notification for most product edits; for the others Quizproof re-checks your catalog on a schedule. We measure how long a change takes to appear on Changes and to leave your quizzes on a test store (95th percentile, rounded up: 19 changes in 20 are faster):
| how the change is caught | typical changes | p95 until it is on Changes | p95 until shoppers no longer see it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify notification | tags, product type, prices, status, metafields | under 10 s | under 10 s |
| Product re-check (every 10 min) | any product edit when a notification is lost | about 10 min | about 10 min |
| Catalog sweep | market prices, collection membership, lost metafield or publication changes | about 5 min | about 5 min |
| Full catalog sync (nightly) | a deleted metafield definition | caught in the next sync (at most 24 h) | at once when caught |
Changes are never "instant": between your edit and its detection, shoppers may still see the previous data. If products cannot be verified for 24 hours they are hidden until they are.
