Add a finder step to a quiz
A finder step asks shoppers to pick what they own, for example "Which printer do you have?", with the same levels as your part finder (Brand › Series › Model). The rest of the quiz then works as usual, but its results only show products that fit the shopper's choice, each marked Fits or Works with every printer.
Add the step#
In the quiz editor, click Add question › Finder step. It goes in first: only info screens can come before it.
Under Finder, choose one of your active finders. The step's text follows the finder ("Which printer do you have?") until you change it. Help text is optional.
The line under the finder shows the levels shoppers choose and which one they must reach, for example "Brand › Series › Model; Model required".
A quiz has one finder step. It is always shown and always required, conditions and rules can't use it, and a branch can't go to it. To add one you need an active finder: build one first.
Publishing#
The finder step's finder isn't live: the finder is a draft, archived, or has no activated fit data. Publishing is blocked until you activate it or choose another finder.
Products with unknown fit won't be recommended: the finder's coverage is partial, so products without fit data for a shopper's choice never show. Publishing asks you to confirm.
The checks resolve a sample of your finder's choices ("Checked 7 of 7 printers") and warn about choices where nothing fits.
Try it in the simulator#
In Simulator, pick a choice level by level in place of an answer, answer the other questions and click Simulate. Results show the same Fits badges and how many variants of each product fit. The simulator and the preview never remember a shopper's choice and never count as a finder search.
