Review, check and cover a part finder
Open a finder from Finders in the app menu. Its tabs show its data, the changes waiting for review, a tester and its coverage checks.
Data#
The Data tab shows the finder's configurations as a tree. Search finds a configuration by its name or an alias anywhere in the finder. Pick one to see:
its id and aliases, and which sources declare it;
the products that fit or are excluded there, and where that comes from: this configuration, a parent (for example the whole series), a year range, or universal (fits everything);
Check this selection, which opens the tester at that configuration.
Products that fit every configuration are listed on top.
Changes#
New fit data never reaches shoppers on its own. Every upload or sync arrives as a change to review:
the summary counts fits added and removed, exclusions, new configurations, and how coverage moves;
each item shows its configuration, product, scope and the product's verdict there before → after;
What changes for shoppers lists every product and selection that starts or stops fitting.
Activate applies exactly the change on screen. If something changed while you were reviewing (another source, or newer data), nothing is applied: the updated change opens for you to review again. Rows with errors block activation until they are fixed.
A catalog sync applies changes that only remove fits at once ("Already live"); changes that add fits wait for you ("Waiting for you").
Check#
The tester answers two questions with the same verdicts shoppers get:
What fits a selection: pick the levels as a shopper would (optional levels can be skipped). Each product shows fits, doesn't fit, don't know, universal or needs more detail, and the fit data that decided it, for example "Fits through: HP › OfficeJet (series) · source csv:supplier".
What a product fits: every configuration the product fits or is excluded from.
Coverage#
Coverage runs each time you open it:
| Finding | Level | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| No fit data live | Error | Activate a change before you activate the finder. |
| Rows with errors | Error | A change can't be activated until they're fixed. |
| Dead ends | Warning | Nothing fits these selections: shoppers see the no-fit page. |
| Only universal products | Warning | Shoppers see only products that fit everything. |
| Products without fit data | Warning | Products in your scope collections with no fit data here. |
| Levels with a single choice | Warning | Consider removing the level. |
| Long lists without aliases | Info | Over 1,000 options: shoppers will type to search. |
Errors block activation; warnings never do.
